The Stone Coin
The Stone Coin
Wondrous item, unique (requires attunement)
This coin has the intricate image of a book carved onto one side, and a closed door carved on the other. It feels heavy and cool in your hand.
The image on one side represents something the owner considers “good”, while the other side’s image is of something they consider “bad”. The coin is remarkably strong and can only be destroyed by powerful magics.
To use the coin, you must vocally state a course of action you plan to take in the very near future and then flip the coin as a bonus action. The coin must be allowed to fall to the ground, and will land with the “good” side up if it judges the outcome of the plan to be good, or with the “bad” side up if it judges the outcome of the plan to be bad for you. If the outcome is both good and bad then the coin will land, implausibly, on its edge. If the outcome is neither particularly good nor particularly bad, then the coin will land and spin for a minute. During this process, the coin will glow slightly with a golden light, allowing its result to be seen even in total darkness.
Using the coin more than once per long rest carries an increasing chance of returning confusing results, and each consecutive use causes the glow to be dimmer than before.
Note: At the time you found it, this coin had the image of a gold bar carved onto one side, and an enraged lizard man baring its teeth carved on the other.
